Paul Revere House
The origin of the Midnight Ride
On the night of April 18, 1775, Paul Revere left his modest wooden home in Boston's North End and set out on a journey that would turn him into a legend. Paul Revere's Midnight Ride became a famous part of American history, and today his home is a national historic landmark. Originally built in 1680, the Paul Revere house is downtown Boston's oldest building, and one of the few remaining from an early era in the history of colonial America. After being largely ignored for over a century after Revere's famous ride, the house underwent restoration in 1902 to return it to its 17th century appearance. Despite the substantial renovation process, it's estimated that roughly ninety percent of the structure is original to 1680. As one of the official sites on the Freedom Trail, the Paul Revere House is one of Boston's top historical attractions and is a must see for anyone that is new to the city.
